A company spokesman said: “The company has won a number of awards in recent years from NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) recognising the quality of its productions, and it is now branching out further with a world-premiere, home-grown show containing 15 original songs and music.

“Jane’s career as a music teacher took a turn towards the dramatic arts in 2010 when she embarked on a masters degree in musical theatre at Goldsmiths University. The course culminated in the production of a 45-minute musical show, written by Jane and performed at Waterloo East Theatre in London in September 2012 with a professional cast.

“Since graduation she has expanded her original work into a full-length family musical entitled There Was An Old Woman – the Musical.

“The delightful comedy is based around many well-known and loved nursery rhyme characters. Somewhat in the style of the Shrek movies, it has humour at different levels to please all ages - and contains the necessary ingredients of skulduggery, heroism and love.”

The production will be staged at the Henfield Hall from Thursday January 1 to Saturday January 3 (including a matinee on Saturday).

Box office: Stevens Estate Agents, High Street, Henfield, 01273 492141, from Monday 15 December. Tickets: adults: £12 and £10, children under 12: £9 and £7.
