The locally based independent theatre company is encouraging anyone that is interested to get in touch, take the plunge and become involved.

Andy Bairsto, co-founder of STAB commented: “We’d love to encourage anyone who hasn’t previously had the time or opportunity to come and share their passion for drama.

“Perhaps you simply haven’t had the courage to audition for anything before or you have a hidden talent for writing and want to share that with an audience.”

STAB is putting on its debut production – an evening of one-act plays – on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, at Hurstpierpoint Players Theatre.

All proceeds from the performances are going to Chailey Heritage Foundation.

Lynda Brown, acting in both plays, said: “Our aim is to produce drama which presents the audience with something they’re able to reflect upon long after the performance is over.

“Producing contemporary plays will allow us to embrace the work of modern playwrights and provide opportunities for local actors, directors and theatre technicians.”

Although the company has chosen Hurstpierpoint as the venue this time around, it has plans to perform at different locations across the region.

“We’re looking to challenge traditional models of theatre attendance in the future and so we’re also keen to hear from anyone who wants to be involved behind the scenes, as it were, on planning future projects.

“Anyone who is interested and wants to get a flavour of what we’re about should come along to our current production, watch the performances and chat to the founders, director and actors – we’ll be in the bar afterwards!”
