Traditional panto planned

With the Theatre Royal Brighton opting for Monty Python rather than panto this Christmas, Music Theatre 2000 is delighted to bring rather more traditional festive entertainment to the Barn Theatre, Southwick.

They are going all out for panto with a production of Cinderella from December 16-24.

Cinderella is co-directed by Simon Gray, who also musically directs, with Carole Todd who has directed and choreographed at some of the UK’s leading pantomime venues and West End shows. Her latest production is the hit musical Dreamcoats And Petticoats which is currently playing to packed houses in the West End and on national tour. Choreography is by Nathan Potter who also plays Buttons.

Simon said: “Cinderella is one of the best-loved fairy tales of all time bursting with boos and cheers, and songs and laughter. With a first-rate cast of singing actors, dancers, a live band and a sprinkling of magic, Cinderella is a must-see part of your Christmas celebrations.

“Will Cinderella get to the ball, meet the prince of her dreams and live happily ever after? Or will she remain forever in the evil clutches of her wicked step-mother and two of the ugliest sisters you are ever likely to set eyes upon!”

Simon added: “Other cast members include Fran Benton-Stace in the title role with Anne Marsh as her wicked step-mother and Steve Emery and Alex White as her Ugly Sisters. Guy Dudeney plays her father, the lovable but misguided Baron Hardup and in keeping with pantomime tradition, Becca Watts and Lea Spells are in the trouser roles of Prince Charming and Dandini. Sprinkling some magic on the whole situation is the adorable Fairy Godmother played by Debbie Spellman.

“Also appearing are Mickey and Marvin, a couple of adorable speaking mice! The cast is complemented by a chorus of experienced singing dancers, along with children from the Drama Queens School of musical theatre.
