Town Artists chalk up another year

An Arundel institution, the annual art exhibition by Mary Hite and Jeanette Clark reaches its 20th year this year.

“Another year has flown by,” Mary says, “and once more, Jeanette and I are exhibiting our paintings, greeting cards and photographs in the Norfolk Centre, Arundel from August 3-9 from 10am to 5.30pm.

“This time it is our 20th year, which is rather a celebration, if not a bit scary! We will, as usual, be making a donation to cancer research, a charity close to our hearts.

“My work is often inspired from travelling. We have visited five countries already this year!

I love painting people in their colourful surroundings, landscapes and wildlife.

My grandchildren, now eight of them, often appear in my work, playing on the beach at Felpham where I have lived, with my husband, for 37 years.

“I am an ardent photographer and some of my photographs, together with cards and prints, will also be for sale.I paint in oils, acrylic and watercolour, either with brush or pallet knife (http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/maryhitepaintings).

“Jeanette’s paintings are inspired by the wonderful landscapes and buildings of West Sussex, where she has lived for the last 30 years. She loves to portray local scenes in her favourite medium of line and wash, using both traditional and experimental techniques.

“She also enjoys life drawing and this year will be exhibiting some life studies, monoprints, and also greeting cards of her watercolour paintings. More of her work can be seen on her website at www.jeanetteclark-art.co.uk.”
