Church members at St Bartholomew’s Church, in Church Road, rushed to help the man.

And the vicar revealed that the church was only being used that evening due to a double booking elsewhere.

“There was a mix up with the bookings and DCC clashed with Zumba.

“No one would have found him.”

He added: “Thank God it was rainy and the grass was wet. He rolled around, we put a duvet on him and the fire was extinguished.”
