Airline workers call on Horsham MP for support over BA job cuts

British Airways workers are calling on Horsham MP Jeremy Quin for support over planned job cuts by the airline.

The union Unite says that hundreds of BA staff live in Horsham and have received a show of support from friends and neighbours.

The airline announced in April that it was cutting 12,000 jobs because of a decrease in air travel following the Covid pandemic.

The union has hit out at what it says are BA’s plans to ‘fire its workforce and rehire those that survive on inferior contracts.’

Unite executive officer Sharon Graham said: “Friends and neighbours have been showing their support for BA staff and are calling on Jeremy Quinn to act.

“British Airways’ workers face an unprecedented attack on their jobs, pay and conditions in the middle of the worst health crisis in a century.”
