Crawley businesses eligible for new Restart Grant

Crawley businesses in the non-essential retail, hospitality, leisure, personal care and accommodation sectors that have had to close during lockdown, can apply for a Restart Grant from 1 April 2021 to reopen safely as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

The Restart Grant is a one-off grant for rate-paying businesses. It will support non-essential retail premises with one-off grants of up to £6,000 in Strand One of the Restart Grant.

It will also support hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym business premises with one-off grants of up to £18,000 in Strand Two of the Restart Grant.

The scheme is due to go live in Crawley on 1 April 2021. Crawley Borough Council is administering and distributing these grants on behalf of the Government.

The following thresholds apply for non-essential retail premises:

a. Premises with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or under on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £2,667

b. Premises with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £4,000

c. Premises with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 or over on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £6,000.

The following thresholds apply for hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses:

a. Premises with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or under on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £8,000

b. Premises with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £12,000.

c. Premises with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 or over on 1 April 2021 will receive a payment of £18,000.

The application closure date for this scheme is 30 June 2021.
