Crawley company sells overnight parcel business

A CRAWLEY logistics company said the sale of its stake in the UK’s largest independent next day parcel delivery network was ‘a significant step’ for the business.

Eezehaul, on Manor Royal Estate, said the move to sell its APC overnight parcel division was crucial to achieving its growth strategy by allowing it to concentrate on expanding into more complex areas.

The sale to Streetwise Couriers, effective from Monday September 19, will have no effect on customers of APC or the current employees of that unit.

It will be business as usual from the depot ensuring the smooth transition to the new ownership.

Following a transition period, the new owners will operate the APC depot from the former Eezehaul premises in Lowfield Heath, Crawley.

Eezehaul’s 2010 move to larger premises on Gatwick Road quadrupled its warehousing space to 80,000 sq ft.

Since then it has developed and invested in a high level of internal expertise and state of the art technology.

Eezehaul’s managing director, Mark Duggan, said: “APC is a fantastic operation that we have built up over the past decade to be one of the largest contributors to the overnight parcel network nationally.

“However, the growth strategy for Eezehaul is to focus on the more complicated supply chains of some the largest manufacturing companies in the UK and beyond.

“This sale represents a significant further step in the execution of this strategy.”

Eezehaul was established in 1998 and employs 70 people to include warehouse staff, drivers and office personnel. The company has a turnover in the region of £7million.

Streetwise Couriers has 25 years experience in the sector and already operates three other APC depots in Surrey and the Midlands.
