The Wheatsheaf Inn in Willingdon is closing for the time being due to a number of customers getting coronavirus according to a post on the pub’s Facebook page.

The post said, “I’m very sad to say that as of now (December 22) we are closing down at the Wheatsheaf. Staff and customers have been doing an amazing job with keeping each other safe, but it’s now been brought to my attention that a few locals have tested positive to the virus and some of us now have to isolate.

“I have decided to close, it’s with a very heavy heart that all bookings are now cancelled. We wish you all a very happy and healthy Christmas and we look forward to welcoming you back as soon as is safe to do so.”

This comes after another Eastbourne pub, The Dolphin on South Street, decided to close until the New Year due to the restrictions meaning it isn’t possible to carry on.

Jesters Sports & Music Bar on Seaside Road also had to close after two members of staff tested positive for Covid.
