Fresh plans for former bank and antique shop in Eastbourne

Plans have been submitted to develop an antiques shop in Eastbourne into flats.

According to documents submitted to Eastbourne Borough Council, The Old Bank Antiques store on Seaside would change from commercial use to two studio flats.

The rest of the ground floor is already used for two flats, this development would add another two studio flats to the floor according to plans.

In a letter submitted with the plans, Mike Tingley from Hunt Commercial Property said, “Like many high streets in towns and cities across the UK, the retail sector has suffered immensely for an extended period of time.

“With changing habits of consumers shopping where online retailing has become a norm, coupled with retailers shifting their physical presence to out of town locations, the market shows little signs of improving. This trend has only been magnified this year by the Covid pandemic.”
