Hairdressers reopen in Mid Sussex – in pictures

Hair salons in Mid Sussex were delighted to welcome customers back on Saturday, July 4, for the first time in months.

Karen Truscott, of Silk Hair Boutique in Haywards Heath, said the team were grateful to be back and work and were looking forward to the new chapter ahead. She added: “We are all delighted to be back at work, we have missed our clients and each other very much. Unfortunately, to keep in line with social distancing we have had to split the team into two halves, so we are still not quite together again.” Gill East, a mobile hairdresser in Hurstpierpoint, reopened with a patch test and consultation day. Ahead of the weekend, she said: “I have about 30 people booked back-to-back so I can test them and see the state of their hair before their appointment. I’ve used lockdown to level up my business massively, I’ve created a new website, done at least 30 different online training workshops to upskill and I’ve got myself a new business mentor which has given me the confidence to run my business the way I want to.” She continued: “I’ve gone through my prices with a fine toothed comb which has taken pretty much all of lockdown to get right and now I’m gearing up for my first day back at work with a patch test and consultation day under a gazebo in the cricket field which backs on to the bottom of my garden!”
