Telecommunications specialist Metricell - which makes wireless communication networks for government, enterprise and global clients - won a 2020 Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in the category of Innovation.

Since 2007, Metricell - which is basd in The Big Blue in Foundry Lane - has helped those working in communications better understand the performance of mobile and fixed line broadband, and driven greater connectivity between service providers and their customers.

Not only does this approach help to improve networks, but also serves to address the continuing challenge of breaking down the digital divide and ensuring connectivity for all, the company said.

Metricell will celebrate the award win at a Buckingham Palace reception later this year.

The Queen’s Awards were first established in 1965 to recognise pioneering businesses and since then over 7,000 companies have received one.

This year, 220 UK businesses have been recognised for their contribution to international trade, innovation, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility.
