£86,000 of funding for small Horsham District businesses is up for grabs
Thousands of pounds of grant funding is set to be made available to Horsham District businesses.
The council’s economic development team is launching its Local Enterprise and Apprenticeship Programme (LEAP) small business grants funding on September 30 for the fourth year running.
More than 100 small and micro businesses have successfully secured a grant in the three previous years of the programme.
The LEAP grant scheme has at its disposal some £86,000 to be distributed to small businesses across the district between September 30 2020 and end May 2021, the council said.
The grant money will be released in three tranches:
Round 1 – opens September 30 2020 and closes November 30 2020
Round 2 – opens December 31 2020 and closes February 28 2021
Round 3 – opens March 31 and closes May 30 2021.
This year’s programme is aimed at small businesses located in the Horsham District that missed out on the various government COVID-19 support programmes.
A spokeswoman said: “If you are a new business of less than 12 months and have less than 20 employees, you can now apply for a share of these grant funds to support your business needs.
“You can apply for up to £2,000, which you will need to match with additional funds (30 per cent of the total project cost).
“You must be able to demonstrate how the project will develop or establish your business and what difference it will make.”
Horsham District Council’s councillor Paul Clarke, cabinet member for local economy added: “This is a great opportunity for people who have recently set up a new business and have been adversely affected by the pandemic.
“We are hoping as many of the District’s businesses as possible will take advantage of this grant scheme in order to make that important small investment to help build the resilience of their enterprise which will be so crucial going forward.”
