Tilgate Pharmacy saved from closure

Lloyds Pharmacy, the owners of the pharmacy in Tilgate, announced in July that they would be closing the pharmacy as part of the multi-national McKesson Group’s cost-cutting measures.

When local Crawley Kamsons Pharmacist, Rahul Patel found out he spoke to the Directors of Kamsons Pharmacy who approached Lloyds Pharmacy. Lloyds and NHS England agreed to stop the closure and instead transfer the Tilgate Pharmacy to Kamsons.

Kamsons Pharmacy is a family-owned and Sussex-based group and already operates pharmacies in Broadfield, Pound Hill, Furnace Green, Southgate Medical Centre and Brighton Road in Southgate.

Rahul Patel commented, “I am so pleased that Lloyds Pharmacy agreed to allow Kamsons Pharmacy to take over the Tilgate pharmacy to save the jobs of those that had worked there throughout the lockdowns and to safeguard a vital pharmacy service for the people of Tilgate.”

Rahul continued, “When the pharmacy was closing, many patients signed up to have their prescriptions sent to other pharmacies. Now that we have kept it open, we ask that the people of Tilgate try to support their local pharmacy to safeguard it.”

A range of services are available at the new pharmacy, on top of the usual dispensing of medicine, such as FREE local prescription delivery, prescribing services and free NHS flu vaccinations for everyone over 50 years old. Kamsons Pharmacy keeps a wide range of medicines in stock but also has five wholesaler deliveries a day so that most medicines can be obtained on the same or next day.
