The Gatwick Bursary Award, for bright pupils from the Gatwick area with academic potential who would benefit from an independent boarding school education, is now open.

The Gatwick Bursary Award has been created to ensure Christ’s Hospital is reaching and supporting local families, who may be struggling at this time, and who are facing new difficulties and challenges.

We want to ensure families are aware of our bursary (fee-assisted places) and that they have the opportunity of applying for our newly-created Bursary Award.

Simon Reid, Head Teacher of Christ’s Hospital, said: “All candidates applying for a place will be assessed on their potential, both academically and the broader curriculum opportunities.

“Of the 906 pupils at Christ’s Hospital, 662 pupils receive some level of fee assistance, averaging out to 83% remission of fees.

“Of these 662, 118 pay no school fees whatsoever. Christ’s Hospital pupils are provided with uniforms, meals, accommodation plus all teaching and learning materials.”

Christ’s Hospital was established over 460 years ago as a charitable boarding school and is proud to maintain its founding principles and ethos. It offers an independent education of the strongest quality to children with academic potential, from every corner of society in a caring and supportive environment.

Academic expectations are high and pupils are given every encouragement to develop their learning and to reach their full academic potential.

The school has an impressive history of high academic achievement, with an average of 10 pupils each year taking up places at Oxford or Cambridge and 98% of leavers going on to leading universities.

Academic is a word, a theme that threads its way through all aspects of Christ’s Hospital life. We expect a great deal of our pupils. They expect much of Christ’s Hospital in return.

Christ’s Hospital is extremely well-resourced. Classrooms, libraries and learning resources are state-of-the-art. Everything is designed around delivering the very best education to young people who want to make a difference.

Our magnificent campus provides the opportunities for the busy lives that our pupils lead. As you would expect from one of the country’s leading boarding schools, the facilities are first-rate and the huge range of broader curricular activities on offer is second to none.
