Delight at record-breaking results for Ifield Community College

Some 50 per cent of Year 11 youngsters gained five or more good grades, including English and maths – a massive rise of 14 per cent on last year.

The icing on the cake, though, was the Progress 8 score of +0.3, which means every child made progress well in excess of national expectations during their time at the college.

College principal Rob Corbett said he and his staff were “delighted that the hard work put in by students and staff over the last two years has paid off”.

That hard work saw 52 per cent of students earn good grades in English and maths, a rise of 11 per cent.

Mr Corbett added: “We are extremely proud of the success of all of our students who showed the tenacity and dedication to succeed.”

Among the high achievers were:

Sara Moufeed with nine A* and three A grades

Ayesha Mehmood with eight A* and four A grades

Nicole Buckley, Jade Dancaster and Daniella Gutu with 11 A/A* grades each

Jade Sisk-Lavers with 10A/A* grades.

Mr Corbett said their had been “significant rises” in many GCSE results, including 10 per cent in English, 11 per cent in maths and 20 per cent in science.

In geography the increase was 29 per cent and in history it was 5 per cent.

In addition, the separate sciences – biology, chemistry and physics – all showed improvement.

He added: “This is down to the hard work put in by all the school community, including parents to ensure the school is moving forward rapidly.

“The majority of these students will be staying at ICC for sixth-form and we look forward to their continued success.

“We have worked hard to develop a culture of celebration at ICC – it is great to have so much to celebrate!”
