Here are the schools in East Sussex that will be closed today (Friday, November 3) amid Storm Ciarán, according to the East Sussex County Council website.

ARK Blacklands Primary Academy in Hastings is the only school that will not open its doors because it has no electricity. It is hoped the emergency closure will be lifted on Monday.

This was the situation on Thursday with the storm at its worst:

ARK Little Ridge Primary Academy in St Leonards-on-sea, Rye Community Primary School and Rye College opened at 10am to give parents, children and staff extra time to make a safe journey to school.

The Eastbourne Academy opened at 9.30am and The St Leonards Academy in St Leonards-on-sea opened at 9.50am with lessons beginning at 10am.

Beacon Academy in Crowborough opened its Beeches site only for students in Years 7 - 11 and 13 at a later time of 10am. Students in Year 12 were required to remain at home and complete work set on EduLink as the Green Lane site remains closed due to storm damage. An EduLink message was sent to all parents and carers.

Bexhill Academy had a delayed start. Students arrived at 10.40am.

Cuckmere House and Tower House School in Seaford was closed on Thursday due to adverse weather conditions and hazardous travelling conditions.

In view of predicted disruptive weather overnight, the start of the day at Guestling-Bradshaw Church of England Primary, was delayed until 10am. This gave families and staff more time to ensure a safe journey to school. It also allowed time for staff to assess any potential damage or risks to safety that the storm may have caused.

The leadership team at Hailsham Community College decided to open both the primary and secondary sites at 10am. Secondary students were told to go straight to their period 2 lesson for registration, primary learners will go to their normal classroom. Breakfast club was cancelled for primary learners and breakfast and after school clubs were cancelled for secondary learners.

Netherfield Church of England Primary School was closed due to having no power at school. The school have been keeping parents informed via PING.

New Horizons School in St Leonards was closed as it was not safe for staff or pupils to travel to and from the school site. Remote learning was in place for all learners.

Peacehaven Community School opened to all students at the later time of 9.20am.

Priory School in Lewes operated a late start on Thursday morning, with morning tutor time at 9.30am and lessons starting from P.2.

Robertsbridge Community College was closed due to electricity supply issues and treacherous conditions on the school site. The school had limited access to school IT systems so staff set work through Class Charts where possible.

Ropemakers Academy in Hailsham made the decision to open at 10am, to allow staff and students time to travel in if it was safe to do so.

The start of the school day at Rye College was delayed until 10am to give families, children and staff extra time to make a safe journey to school.

Seahaven Academy in Newhaven was closed due to safety concerns. The strong gusts made access to the building unsafe.

Shinewater Primary School in Eastbourne delayed opening until 10am.

St Mary's School Horam in Maynards Green was closed yesterday but will be open as normal today.

St Peter and St Paul Church of England Primary School in Bexhill was open yesterday, but registration was extended until 10am to allow all to arrive safely.

St Thomas' Church of England Primary School in Winchelsea was closed. Many roads accessing Winchelsea for pupils and staff were blocked by fallen trees, power cables and flooding.

The Cavendish School in Eastbourne opened at 9.40am.

The start of the school day at The Haven Church Of England Methodist Primary School in Eastbourne was delayed until 9.30am.

The St Leonards Academy opened from 9.50am for students to start lessons at 10am.

The Turing School in Eastbourne opened at the later time of 9.30am to support safe travel to school.

The Workplace in Bexhill was closed yesterday, with online lessons available to all students.

Uplands Academy in Wadhurst opened slightly later at 10am for all students, to allow for an improvement to road and site conditions. Students were told to only attempt to come in if they felt safe to do so.

The start of the school day at Willingdon Community School in Eastbourne was delayed until 9.20am.
