More than 200 coronavirus cases recorded in last five days across Sussex

More than 200 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Sussex in the last five days, according to the latest Government data.

Since Tuesday (September 8), the number of positive infections across Sussex has increased by 208 to 5,985

The largest increase has been seen in Brighton and Hove, with 43 new cases in the last five days. Chichester and Lewes have both seen only seven new cases — the fewest in Sussex.

Across the whole of the UK, the number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus has increased by 3,330. A further five deaths were reported on Sunday, all of them in England.

There have been no further reported deaths in any of Sussex's hospitals. The most recent death was reported on August 28 by Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
