The college confirmed this week that a student had displayed symptoms of the virus and later tested positive.

A spokesman said: “A week ago we did have one student who was displaying symptoms so we followed all necessary protocols and that student was removed from other members of the student body and went home.

The spokesman continued: “We have had no subsequent cases. Everybody is being careful and following protocols.

“The college has a special cottage on the premises that has four isolation rooms should anyone display any symptoms.”

The college remains open on a blended model whereby all students study in college and in part virtually, in order to maintain the balance of safety and quality of education, the spokesman added.
