An initial case was reported by Steyning Grammar School yesterday (October 6), but a second infection today has led to all of Year 10 being sent home.

A spokesman for the school said: "We have notified staff, parents and students of two confirmed cases of Covid-19 at Steyning Grammar School Shooting Field campus in Year 10. Student and staff safety is of paramount importance to us and we have made the decision to send all of Year 10 home to self-isolate for 14 days. We have stringently followed government guidelines and are working closely with the Public Health Team.

"We know that parents may find this concerning but are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. Parents have been informed of the current situation and provided with advice on how to support their child.

"The school remains open for all other years and students should continue to attend if they remain well."

An email sent to parents said pupils were expected to return to school on October 22.

Isolating pupils would be given work to do online, according to the email, through a mixture of set work and live lessons.
