Injured builder back in Eastbourne for Christmas

Sean Foley was transferred from Stoke Mandeville to Chaseley Trust on Eastbourne seafront last week and is hoping to see his partner Daniella and two young daughters over the festive season.

Sean, a builder from Old Town, broke his neck and severely damaged his spine in a trampolining accident on May 16. And while he can talk and move his upper body in his electric wheelchair, he is trying to get movement back in his arms.

More than £23,000 has so far been raised through GoFundMe to pay for extra physiotherapy for Sean and adaptations to his home.

Don McPhee, who has been helping with the fundraising, said, “Sean has finally arrived back in Eastbourne and been transferred to the Chaseley Trust.

“Sean has had to self isolate to start with but then he will receive the physio he so desperately needs to build up his strength before he is fully well enough to return home to his family.

“Work has started at the house to make the alterations needed. As you can imagine this is an extremely difficult and expensive project.

“The lift has been ordered and the wet room has been started followed by patio doors being widened.

“All in all it’s good news. Daniella, Sean and the girls are truly humbled by the love everyone is showing - it means so much to them.”

On Boxing Day (Saturday December 26) Sean’s friends Grant Huggair, Gary Costin, Jimmy Jewell and Richie Smith plan to do a sponsored walk in Eastbourne dressed as superheroes to raise money for Sean and his family.
