The exclusive material was created for the Windsor sewing group Scrubs Glorious Scrubs, following Noah’s extraordinary fundraising efforts, resulting in donations topping £123,890.

Arun Scrub Hub community volunteer circle has been lucky enough to acquire some of the fabric and members spent all day yesterday cutting it out at Littlehampton Baptist Church hall, in Fitzalan Road, Littlehampton.

Volunteers will now set about making scrub tops for staff who work in the children’s wards run by West Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Organiser Jolene Yule, from Littlehampton, said: “During the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a shortage of scrubs used by the NHS staff across hospitals, hospices, general practice and healthcare professionals.

“The scrubs are worn by healthcare professionals as uniform, and also a form of protection.

“We are a subgroup of the national campaign For The Love Of Scrubs, which we started to support our local Arun nurses and surrounding area.

“We have more than 150 volunteers with various skills, from beginners to theatre costume makers and ex-seamstresses, whom all offered to help with the need to dress all healthcare professionals.”

The crowdfunding campaign set up in April has so far raised £1,450 and the group has dressed 1,283 healthcare professionals in the past few months.

Jolene said the pattern cutting this week was the first time many of the group had got together in person.

She added: “We also have knitters and crafters making small paired hearts and paper mask mates, which have passed infection control as single use.”

Noah Evans, the 11-year-old son of presenter Chris Evans, camped out in his garden in Windsor for 28 days to help buy fabric for Scrubs Glorious Scrubs, a voluntary sewing collaborative making non-surgical scrubs for NHS workers, and his efforts were supported by listeners of The Chris Evans Breakfast Show.
