Proud to Care campaign offers new career to people in Horsham, Crawley and Mid Sussex who have lost jobs during lockdown

A new campaign is reaching out to provide and promote rewarding careers in care to thousands of people who have been furloughed or let go as a result of the pandemic.

West Sussex County Council estimates around 12,000 individuals in Horsham, Crawley, Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath have either been furloughed or let go due to the pandemic, causing many to re-evaluate their future source of income.

The Proud to Care recruitment campaign is a free service, run by the county council, that targets those searching for necessary career changes.

They are kickstarting online recruitment across West Sussex for employment opportunities in the Care sector.

Amanda Jupp, Cabinet Member for Adults and Health commented: “By doing this we will not only increase the workforce in the care sector at this critical time but also help to support the local economy by keeping people in jobs.”

The Proud to Care team is encouraging potential candidates to use the ‘matching service’ and enter basic details to personally assess suitable job roles situated in convenient locations.

Cllr Jupp added; “Many people will have transferable skills that make them well suited to working in care. Protecting and caring for vulnerable people at this present time is our greatest priority.”

THe council says that whilst these turbulent times cause unrest, this positive campaign offers a solution for those struggling with the financial consequences of unemployment, as well as key workers who are dealing with the new strain in the Care industry.
