Eastbourne Town Hall clock was one of many landmarks across the country to be illuminated green on Wednesday night (June 24) in celebration of St John’s Day.

St John’s Day is an annual celebration on June 24 to honour the work of St John Ambulance,

Eastbourne Borough Council (EBC) organised the celebration.

An EBC spokesperson said, “Typically, St John’s Day has gatherings and events but this was not possible due to covid-19, so EBC decided to show its appreciation for the town’s St John Ambulance crew by illuminating the clock.”

“It isn’t the first time the Town Hall clock has been a beacon of light to support town services, having previously been turned blue to thank dedicated NHS and other frontline staff during the coronavirus crisis,” the spokesperson said.
