A Washington boy is taking on a 100 mile hiking challenge to raise money for children’s hospice Chestnut Tree House.

Nikolas Ollis, seven, was inspired by NHS fundraiser Captain Tom Moore, according to mum Yuliya.

She said he decided to take on a walking challenge of his own – a 100 mile Chanctonbury Challenge.

Nik’s first 5.4 mile walk was on Tuesday May 5, when he was joined by his mum, dad, big sister Isabella, and dog Bracken.

He said: “I like walking so I have decided to do my favourite walk to Chanctonbury Ring on the South Downs 19 times to raise money for Chestnut Tree House.

“It’s a special place that takes care of sick children and I wanted to do something to help them.”

Nik has set himself a fundraising target of £1,000 and will be walking a total of 101.84 miles during May and climbing a total of 12,274 feet, which is about the same height as the Grossglockner mountain in Austria.

But he has already smashed his goal raising more than £1,500 so far.
