Take a virtual tour of Arundel Castle

Arundel Castle has unveiled a series of virtual experiences, allowing visitors to explore its gardens and discover nearly 1,000 years of England’s history from the comfort of an armchair.

One of the largest inhabited and complete castles in England, Arundel Castle was founded at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel and is the family home of the 18th Duke of Norfolk.

Castle manager Stephen Manion said: “Although travelling to the Castle may be out of the question for the foreseeable future, these virtual escapes are open to anyone with an internet connection. With more than 12 videos to choose from, sightseers will marvel at the great Norman and medieval fortress, tour the extensive walled gardens with head gardener Martin Duncan, and learn about historical crafts and games with The History Man, Paul Ullson.”

Stephen added: “We are delighted to share virtual Castle experiences with everyone on our new website. Now our visitors can watch newly hatched cygnets and coot chicks learn to swim or relive our annual tulip festival and allium extravaganza through a bird’s eye view again and again. We hope that, in these difficult times, the beautiful scenes from our grounds and gardens bring some joy to everyone’s day.”

The Castle team is continuously posting new photos and behind-the-scenes updates on the new website and on social media – and more videos will be shared throughout the year.

“We have got plenty more virtual tours planned and would love to hear what people like to see next,” Stephen added.
