First aid open day in Bognor Regis

FIRST aid volunteers who cover Bognor Regis will be hosting an action-packed open day later this month.

The St John Ambulance members want to give people the chance to find out what it takes to join them.

The open day from 11am-3pm on March 31 will be held at their meeting place at the Rowland Rank Centre on Aldwick Road.

Bognor unit administrator Kate Dean said: “We want to give local people a real insight into what we do.

“We make sure all our volunteers have the skills needed to be the difference between a life lost and a life saved. But there’s also a strong social side to the organisation.”

The open day will see members talking about their experiences as well as showing off their first aid skills.

Visitors will also be able to look around a mini field hospital as well as one of the charity’s ambulances.

A first aid bicycle will be on show as well as the challenge for visitors to see if they can perform resuscitation on a dummy for four minutes.
