The concept of logging on to a high speed web-based property search tool, that can zone in upon any given area of the country, has revolutionised the way that we start out on our search for that new dream home.

This facility to search for property on-line, had been dominated previously with two players, though with the launch of a new “portal” service in January - OntheMarket.com - this could be changing the on-line search landscape again.

OntheMarket.com provides the most serious alternative with a property service, offering hundreds of thousands of UK properties to buy or to rent/lease.

In the coastal East Sussex region around Hastings, Battle and Bexhill, six independent local estate agents have joined OntheMarket.com since January, with more likely to follow.

Onthe Market.com claim that the importance of the ‘user experience’ will be paramount and searching for a new property promises to be simple, fast and free of clutter, or other advertising media.

There is also the promise of no spam emails once you register.

The service, brought to us by the Company Agents Mutual, is created purely for the independent estate agent market sector.

They claim that properties coming onto the market will be seen on this search portal up to 48 hours before their more established rivals, RightMove and Zoopla.

OntheMarket.com will be the only search portal to be endorsed by the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) and the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (ARLA).

A spokesman for OntheMarket.com says: “Every property that you will see (on the portal0 will be from an independent locally-based estate agent, or lettings agent”

Property seekers, vendors and landlords alike, will have the confidence that they can speak face to face with the experts, that have the local knowledge and expertise of the chosen area.
