Festival chorus invite to join in

Brighton Festival Chorus is inviting potential new members to an open rehearsal on March 6 when they will be practising Choral Classics for a performance at the Royal Albert Hall later in the month.

“So if you want to join in, just come along,” says spokeswoman Elaine Fear. “If you enjoy the experience, there’ll be an opportunity to book a simple audition for a later date. The rehearsal starts at 7pm in the Chichester Lecture Theatre at the University of Sussex at Falmer.

“The music is provided and you’ll receive a warm welcome. The Chorus performs a wide variety of music in venues all over the UK and in Europe with well known orchestras and conductors. Highlights of a busy and varied schedule have been, in the Brighton Festival, Jonathan Dove’s, There was a child with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, at the BBC Proms a performance of local composer Havergal Brian’s massive Gothic Symphony in the Royal Albert Hall.

“Other performances have included their ever popular Christmas Concert and a sell-out fundraising concert, Eternal Light in St Bartholomew’s Church. Other singing has included recordings for Alfie Boe and Popstar to Opera Star winner, Joe McElderry and the Chorus recorded the Christmas edition of the BBC’s Big Sing in the Royal Albert Hall. Coming up this season, amongst others are a concert in March with the world

famous Brodsky Quartet and, of course, performances in the Brighton Festival.
