Show based round Worthing pier

Plaques on memorial benches along Worthing’s seafront promenade might seem a little sombre for springtime.

But for a group of young performers, they have proved a springboard.

Their ideas have helped the students devise a fresh new show, exploring the imagined and real people centred around the 150 year old pier, a landmark of the town.

Spokeswoman Shelley Jarrett said: “Featuring stunning designs for set, costumes, sound and lighting, the piece seeks to take its audience on an intriguing, beautiful and sometimes comic journey through underwater and land-based worlds, exploring myths, facts and notions of love, loss and the odd fish or two.

“If you can cope with travelling through time, mermaids and mods, rockers and rockpools, dockside denizens, both deep and shallow, then book soon – there is limited seating.”

The show is a collaboration between trainee professionals from Northbrook College’s Theatre Department.

Performances are at the College on May 3 and 4, 7.30pm. For booking information, email [email protected], or call 01903 606162.
