Tim joins Arundel folk club celebrations

The Willows Folk Club in Arundel continues its month-long 40th birthday celebrations when it welcomes special guest Tim Broadbent back to its stage on Wednesday, October 17.

Club spokesman Chris Davis said: “Tim is a former stalwart of the local folk scene in Sussex and the south. Back in the 1970s and 1980s Tim would perform regularly at the local folk clubs in and around his native Brighton, whilst travelling to play gigs nationwide.

“Tim was always much loved both for his superb singing and playing and also, especially, for his terrific between-song banter and humour, earning him a reputation as one of the foremost all-round entertainers on the UK folk scene.

“Such was Tim’s popularity that he actually recorded and released several records in the days when albums were released exclusively on vinyl, and these were all solid sellers. Tim subsequently relocated to France, where he continues to sing and play concerts, but he occasionally makes rare trips back to the UK to catch up with friends and family, and for this trip has combined his visit to include a gig at the Willows Folk Club!

“Stylistically, Tim sings and plays a mixture of classic contemporary folk from writers such as Bob Dylan all the way through to Jimmy Buffett, and mixes in with this some traditional folk, blues and ragtime guitar playing, along with a couple of self-penned numbers. Amongst all of this, Tim’s ability to connect with audiences is as strong as ever thanks to his great voice, brilliant musicianship, stage presence, energy, hilarious between-song banter and his unique gift for entertainment.”

Entrance for Tim’s gig on is £4. The Willows Folk meets every Wednesday at 8pm in the function room of Arundel Football Club, Mill Road, Arundel, situated to the rear of the large public car park opposite Arundel Castle.
