Young handsome tenor with a difference

The Mid Sussex Gilbert & Sullivan Society is promising an unusually-interesting time at its next concert.

Spokesman Bill Colbourne explains: “Entitled The Falsetto Sings Gilbert & Sullivan, it brings to Haywards Heath the young, handsome, tenor with a difference, Martin Milnes.

“The difference is that Martin has the amazing ability to sing tenor and soprano with equal facility. Accompanied at the piano by John Howells, Martin will show us just why his performances have met with such enthusiasm at the Buxton and Edinburgh Festivals.

“He sings with the Carl Rosa Opera Company, has appeared on The Andrew Marr Show on TV, and in April will direct a professional production of The Grand Duke, in London. Martin will be singing for us on Sunday, March 11, at 3pm (doors open 2.30), at The Birch Hotel, Lewes Road, Haywards Heath RH17 7SF. “Tickets cost £3 for members of the society, and £6 for non-members. In order to avoid a crush at the door we ask that people book in advance by sending a cheque made payable to G & S Today, together with a stamped, addressed envelope to Edwin Cowley, 37 Hill House Close, Turners Hill, Crawley RH10 4YY. Members or non-members arriving at the door without a ticket will be asked to pay £4 or £7 in the event that there are still seats available. Capacity is limited.
