A27 crash death victim named

POLICE have released the name of a 20-year-old woman who died in a horrific car crash on Monday afternoon (November, 3).

Elena Louise Hedges, of Canal Road, Yapton, was killed when the VW Polo she was driving collided with a VW Caddy van, on the westbound carriageway of the A27, at it's junction with the B2132 Yapton Lane, Walberton, at about 2.25pm

Ms Hedges, who was cut from the wreckage of her car by West Sussex Fire and Rescue, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van, a 32-year-old from Southampton, was taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, suffering from shock.

The westbound carriageway was closed for more than three hours, well into Monday evening's rush hour.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should call Sussex police on 0845 60 70 999, and quote Operation Orlop.
