Thieves stole a massive stock of vehicles and machinery when they broke into Fishers Farm Park at Wisborough Green in January.

But this week park owner Tim Rollings spoke of his gratitude to the public after a show of community support following the raid.

Tim said: “The first I knew of it was when a thoughtful neighbour phoned at 4am to report horses and donkeys in their garden.

“The thieves didn’t even have the courtesy to shut the field gate when they left which speaks volumes about the sort of people who commit these crimes causing disruption and misery.”

He said that after announcing the burglary on social media the response was amazing, with over 400 comments, 2,000 shares and a post reach of a quarter of a million, while one visiting couple donated a generator and chainsaw after hearing about the theft.

Tim praised the ‘absolutely wonderful’ support the farm staff received from the public and added: “Thank you to all our supporters, the response has been absolutely wonderful, nothing derogatory at all, just really kind and thoughtful comments.

“I am amazed that so many people care, out of every tragedy, there is always something good out of it.”

He added: “I don’t really understand theft because it is so personal and so wrong. I just don’t think they have any compassion or thought for what they are doing.

“Thankfully, no one was hurt and all the animals returned unhurt, which is the most important thing.

“We encourage anyone with any information to call Sussex Police on 101 quoting reference: 0211 of 15/1.”

The raid took place on January 14 when the thieves broke into the farm park and stole the vehicles and machinery - one of which was a brand new John Deer Gator.

The thieves cut through padlocks and removed a section of a barn to steal the vehicles.

It is thought the thieves used the Gator, a load-carrying vehicle, to transport other valuable equipment off the site.
