After months of excuses, it's official '“ exam papers are lost

A HEADTEACHER has been told part of her school's SATs test have officially been lost '“ after she has spent the whole summer being given different excuses.

Michele Doran, the headteacher at Michael Ayres Junior School, has been chasing up testing company ETS for her Key Stage 2 exams.

The school has received the English, science and two of the three parts of the maths papers. The missing paper is the mental maths, which makes up 20 of the 100 marks for the maths exam.

She said: "I'm being driven absolutely barmy after being told all sorts of things. They told me they could not get access to the school, which is absolute rubbish '“ there are 300 or so children here until quarter to four.

"They told me I did not want the delivery '“ as if I'm going to say that."

The National Assessment Agency, which has taken over some of the SATs papers, told her this week the papers had been lost.

"I am angry and frustrated '“ not for me, but for the children and my staff, because they have put so much effort into this."

"Unfortunately, a very small number of scripts are unaccounted for. The NAA apologises for the loss of the scripts."
