Matt Jones has been named by a family member as one of the victims of the tragedy, which saw a Hawker Hunter fighter jet slam a busy stretch of the A27.

So far, Sussex Police has said seven people were killed, with more than a dozen injured. However, the force warned yesterday that this death toll could well increase as they continue their search around the crash site.

Mr Jones, a former student of the Littlehampton Community School, is believed to have been travelling from work in his silver BMW to meet some friends when the jet plummeted from the sky above.

Police have not yet confirmed Mr Jones as one of the victims. However, dozens of his friends and family members have taken to Facebook to express their grief.

Friends have described Mr Jones as ‘inspirational’ and as ‘such a lovely guy’.

Hayley Edwards wrote: “RIP Matt, you’ll be sadly missed by so many, thoughts are with his family and friends xx”
