Aldingbourne's design-a-sign challenge

Young people are being asked to design a sign to greet visitors to Aldingbourne.

The parish council wants the feature to be installed at entrances to the area.

Cllr Tony Wheatley said: 'The design should reflect the exclusiveness and richness of our Saxon heritage and something of which residents may be proud.'

Suggestions for images to accompany the parish name include the rife, St Mary's Church, St Wilfrid's shield, an alder or elder tree and the palace mound.

Entries are restricted to children aged 9/10 to 18 who live in Aldingbourne and/or attend school there.

They should submit two dimensional signs, on A4 size paper, which are bold, simple, clear and economic in colour and line. The creators of the designs which are chosen will be acknowledged, but no cash prizes will be given.

The deadline for entries is June 30. They should be sent to the parish clerk, Mr L Tirebuck, 4 Hamilton Gardens, Aldwick, Bognor Regis PO21 4WQ.

The judging will be carried out by parish councillors.
