Aldwick fete to be held at new venue for first time

Enjoying traditional summer outdoor activities in Aldwick will be as simple as ABC later this month.

August 22 will see the first fete to be held by Aldwick Parish Council on Avisford Park recreation ground.

Previous events have been staged by councillors at other open spaces around the area.

More than 20 local organisations will be lining the recreation ground from 1pm with games, side shows and information displays to make the Aldwick Bumper Community Day a success. All are aimed at raising funds or awareness among visitors.

Parish council amenities committee chairman Lilian Richardson said: "All we need is some sunshine to round off the arrangements and we should have a perfect afternoon.

"I hope local people will support it so we may be able to consider making it an annual event."

Plenty of activities have also been arranged to get those who go along to the site on Nyetimber Lane in Rose Green amused.

They include the Miller Men, Regis Troupers pom pom troupe, Aziza Egyptian dance team and a magic show.

Atlantic Discotheque will be providing summer sounds to add to the occasion. Children's rides, candy floss and doughnuts complete the line-up.
