All Saints' Church Summer Fair

SIDLEY was clearly the place to be for those looking for a fun packed day of family entertainment on Saturday, and one popular event in the area was the All Saints' Church Summer Fair.

Attending the fair were Town Mayor and Cllr Patrick Douart and his wife and Mayores, Maureen.

Cllr Douart said:"It's lovely to be here today and to see so many people enjoying themselves and supporting this event."

Later the Mayor had the difficult job of judging the children's fancy dress competition.

There was much to see and do at the fair with stalls offering a variety of items including bric a brac, toys, books, baby clothes, home-made cakes and jams, bottle and food tombola's, a prize draw, and face-painting by Jade Eldridge.

There was also the opportunity to bid for items in the 'Auction of Promises' - which contained a range of unusual and interesting donations including two wooden wheelbarrow planters, an evening's babysitting, two ironing sessions and a lift to Gatwick airport.

Entertainment was provided by energetic Morris dancers and doing a twirl around the school grounds was the athletic 'Bexhill Glimmer Stars' majorettes who are aged between 5-14 years and are based in Pebsham.

The Vicar, the Rev Trevor Buxton said the day had been a great success, with all proceeds raised going into the church funds.

He said: "It's been a fabulous day, it was nice to see so many people here. Many people worked very hard to ensure that today was a success."
