Animal charity seeking poetry perfection from locals

POETS young and old are being called to put pen to paper for an animal rescue charity.

Worthing and District Animal Rescue Service (WADARS) has launched its own poetry competition.

Sponsored by The Local Pet Shop, in Sea Lane, Rustington, the charity is urging people to write their prose about their favourite animals.

A WADARS spokeswoman said: “Here’s your chance to see your work in print and to help WADARS carry on the wonderful work they do in rescuing wildlife and re-homing pets in need.”

The competition is split into two categories; 12 and overs and under-12s.

All the selected poems will be printed in an anthology which will be available on Amazon later this year, with category victors winning a free copy and a cash prize.

The closing date for entries is July 31. Entry fee is £3 for one poem, £10 for four and £2 for any subsequent submissions.

To enter, see www.wadars.co.uk or call 01903 262 828.
