A planning application for a drive-thru KFC has been submitted to Crawley Borough Council.
The application, from Gatwick Airport Ltd and Cobra Restaurants Ltd, was submitted to the council on February 3.
If approved, it would see a new restaurant, including drive-thru and first-floor seating, built north of Ring Road North on a wooded site east of the South Terminal.
A similar application for the site was refused by the council in July 2014 because of the loss of woodland and trees - considered to be an important natural asset to the local environment - which the development would bring.
A design and access statement submitted with the application claimed the problem had been addressed.
It stated: “The new layout has been formulated to address the concerns of the planning authority, regarding the loss of woodland and related ecology.
“The latest, revised, site layout has been designed to minimise the loss of designated important trees.”
A decision is expected to be reached by March 31.
