Awful weather tries to put a dampener on Carnival

The weather may have been awful but that didn’t stop crowds of determined residents turning out for Crawley Carnival.

Downpours turned Southgate Playing Fields into a mudbath over the weekend, meaning some of the acts lined up for today (May 26) were unable to perform.

But Chris Cook, of organisers Crawley Lions, said a couple of hundred pounds had been raised so far for local causes.
