Organisers of the Ifield May Fayre were given the nicest of hurdles to overcome when three of the committee became parents.
The arrival of the little bundles of joy – Noah, Samuel and Charlotte – meant getting the fayre together was a bit more of a struggle, especially as another member had a wedding to worry about.
But the sleep-deprived committee has comes up with the goods once again. Committee member Mark Haymes and his wife Helen welcomed Noah to the family 11 weeks ago.
Mark said: “It’s a small committee for a big fayre and we’ve been hampered in the nicest way. Noah is quite an easy going baby and it’s mainly been making sure my wife gets back on her feet as quickly as possible.”
Noah won’t be short of playmates as committee member Carl Peirce and partner Vikki welcomed Samuel, while Kate and Tom Graham added Charlotte to the numbers.
The fayre will be held on May 4 with a parade, leaving St Margaret’s School at 11am before the official opening at Ifield Barn Theatre at 11.30am.
Then there will be an afternoon of traditional fun, including maypole dancing, Punch and Judy, a raffle and, of course, the crowning of the May Queen. Money raised from the fayre will go to Ifield Barn Theatre and the St Margaret Church Buildings Fund.
Mark added: “It’s a complex fayre to arrange and it’s been more of a challenge this year – but we’re there.”
