Ballad provides a debut

A devised and collaboratively-written exploration of Oscar Wilde’s poem The Ballad Of Reading Gaol gives Lost Draft their debut show at Brighton Fringe.

It plays at Jam, 9-12 Middle Street, Brighton, Sunday, May 29 (doors open at 7.30pm for 8pm start); Monday, May 30 (doors open at 7pm for 7.30 start).

“The piece delves into the twisted characters and torture that went on during Oscar Wilde’s time in prison,” says show spokesman Jimmy Ryan-Shedden.

“Depicting Wilde at his darkest moment, Lost Draft have created a performance that takes audiences into the tragic and sinister end of his life and poses the question of what we would do for love.”

Lost Draft makes their debut at Brighton Fringe after five years operating under different guises.

Created initially after collaborating during their time together at Roehampton University, they aim to take audiences through a journey that leads into the surrealist but ultimately postmodern disciplines that they have taken inspiration from, Jimmy said.

“In essence, a passion to just create is all we have ever wanted.”
