Battle Abbey prep school open day and sports

The weather was kind to Battle Abbey preparatory school for its open day and sports events.

Head teacher Jude Clark said: "We enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day for Open day and Key Stage 2 Sports Day and the following week for our Infant Sports Day.

"In the morning the school opened its gates to parents, friends of the school and visitors.

"Children were engaged in a range of activities to demonstrate the wide variety of opportunities available to them at school and visitors were entertained by the choir.

"They were challenged by electric games devised and constructed by year 6 pupils. Children were busy in the Art room engaged in a nationwide competition to create the best 'Google Doodle'.

"Year 4 children extended a welcome at their French caf, Caf Quatre. "Taking their orders in French, they served up a variety of drinks, typical French pastries and ice creams.

"After a picnic lunch the children competed in the annual inter-house Sports Day.

"At the end of the day St Pat's were declared the winners.

"The following Thursday was Infant Sports day. Again we were lucky with the weather and the children competed with great enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed the morning.

"We will be holding two more Open Days in October on Thursday 9th and Saturday 11th."
