Battle Council seeksnew councillor tostep into vacancy

Paula Fisher was a knowledgeable and experienced councillor who had previously held the role of Town Clerk for the Council.

She was co-opted onto the council in July 2001 and served as Chairman and Town Mayor between 2005 and 2007.

Paula played a key role in the Battle in Bloom initiative.

The Town Council are inviting applications for a suitably qualified candidate to fill the vacancy on the Watch Oak Ward.

Applications will need to be made in writing by 10 November, indicating why you would like to be a Town Councillor and indicating any previous experience that you think would be useful.

The Chairman of the Council would be available to meet interested candidates during the week beginning November 3.

Battle Town Council serve a population of just over 6,000, of which over 5,000 are electors.

The council has a wide range of direct responsibilities for matters such as allotments, street lighting, recreation areas and the cemetery.

In addition they comment on services provided by many other statutory agencies and organisations including the County and District Councils. In particular they comment on all planning applications and related matters within the Town Council area.

Council meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. The council is led by Cllr Margaret Kiloh was elected as Chairman and Town Mayor.
