Battle woman killed in HGV collision

A woman has died following a collision involving her car and two heavy goods vehicles on the A21 north of Hurst Green yesterday (Thursday, July 18).

The 66-year-old from Battle was driving a silver Suzuki Alto northbound on the A21 when her vehicle was in collision with the two HGVs at 12.05pm.

The woman died at the scene. The driver of one of the HGVs, a 27-year-old man from Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody.

There were long delays in the area with the road remaining closed in both directions for two and a half hours.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to call 101 quoting Op Walder or to email [email protected]
