Matt Southam, spokesperson for the Battel Bonfire Boyes, said: “The weekend was well-attended overall and we would like to thank everyone who came and supported the event.

“Thank you to all the groups and organisations who joined the carnival and then performed in the arena at the summer fair.

Money is down slightly on last year but its still our biggest fundraiser of the year. This is mainly due to our expenses being higher this year.

“A debrief has taken place however we would love to hear from anyone in the town who feels they can offer any assistance in next years event.

“It is an event for the community, not just a fundraiser, so we want to put on what people want.”
