Beckley Flower Show is best for years
BECKLEY Horticultural Society attracted double the number of entries on last year for its Summer Show on Saturday.
Frank Nunnely, from the Society, said: “Despite a year of peculiar weather there was hardly room enough on the tables for all the entries. Lots of different people were awarded prizes so they didn’t all go to just a few of the old stalwarts and even people who had never showed before walked off with some firsts.
Ron Juden, the Society’s Chairman said: “It was probably the best supported show for a few years but we’d still like to see more people joining the Society and contributing to the shows - maybe this is the beginning of a big resurgence.”
