Beeching Park users raise cash for Eve Appeal

CENTRE users worked alongside staff when the Beeching Park Centre hosted a coffee morning.

The party balloons were bobbing in the breeze of a perfect Spring morning as visitors walked up to the doors.

Inside, they found a warm welcome. Not only was coffee available but stalls, which included cakes and a raffle.

Centre users' craft work was on sale.

There was a competition to guess how many sweets in a bottle plus a guess-the-picture competition.

The coffee morning was in aid of the Eve Appeal for ovarian cancer research.

It was the idea of day care officer Trina Green.

Trina said: "The Eve Appeal is in aid of ovarian cancer research. The reason I thought of having this coffee morning is that I bought a heart-shaped badge in aid of the appeal and started to look into ovarian cancer a little more deeply.

"More than 7,000 women a year are diagnosed with it a year. Of these, 5,000 die. So it is very important that there is research into it."

The coffee morning raised 352.
